We must share some very sad news with you.
After Gerda’s visit to the clinic for her examination (on September 12, 2025), the cytology results from the mass on her right side came back. The diagnosis was confirmed – a malignant soft tissue tumor (sarcoma) in its final stage, with metastases in her lungs… Unfortunately, the disease causes her pain and suffering that can no longer be ignored.
Over the past few weeks, we have watched Gerda grow weaker: she has lost a lot of weight, eats very little, often sits alone facing the wall, and quietly whimpers. Activities, walks, and games that once brought her joy have become too exhausting for her.
Recent examinations confirmed her condition has worsened: her spine has become more curved, and a hematoma has developed and continues to grow. All of this shows that her body can no longer cope.
We have done everything possible to extend and improve her life. Thanks to your support and love, Gerda lived almost three happy years, filled with walks, trips, play, and swimming. For an adult large dog, that is a lot – and those years were full of care and warmth.
But now it’s time to let her go…
Not because of her disability – Gerda lived with dignity and energy despite it – but because the illness has taken all her strength. We cannot let her suffer any longer.
Sarcoma is not just a diagnosis; it is constant pain. We know that even when a dog smiles and wags her tail, she may still be hurting. Every new morning has become harder for Gerda.
On September 24, 2025, the time came to say goodbye to her…
This is a great loss for all of us, as we have walked a long path together with you. But we truly believe Gerda felt love and happiness – and left this world knowing she was loved.
Thank you to everyone who supported her and us – for your trust, compassion, and humanity.
May Gerda remain forever in our hearts.
